It's not a secret that this whole retro movement in the worlds of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal has been an absolutely God sent for my musical palette. Retro has become in these days, and there are more and more bands creeping up that have harkened their sound back to a time that left well over 30 years ago. The last 2 years have seen an influx of bands reaching back to the '70s. Bands like Blues Pills, Vista Chino, Scorpion Child and Rival Sons have all emerged with

Come the fuck on!

The big story surrounding Arch Enemy's ninth studio album is that the band has done the impossible. They replaced their lead singer calmly, quietly, and without anybody knowing about it until it was already done—and somehow didn't miss a beat in the process. It's hard enough to replace a singer just once, but Arch Enemy has done it twice, and while

It definitely sucks when you watch a band that you are REALLY a fan of implode. For me, that's just what I had to do with Black Country Communion. Given the fact that Bartek's 524 day listening streak to NOSTRADAMUS probably doubled the count of the rest of the Priest fanbase combined, it's clear that the once Mighty Priest needed to do something very, very metal this time

News - Heathen

Image: Heathen, News, Heavy Metal, PitriffThe ink has finally dried and Nuclear Blast Records is proud to announce the worldwide signing of the Bay Area's indomitable thrash metal band HEATHEN!

Founding member & guitarist Lee Altus comments on the new alliance:

"I'm really happy and couldn't think of a better label for HEATHEN.  I've known people at Nuclear Blast, some of whom have been fans of the band going as far back as the early demo days, and have been friends with them for many years.  It's amazing for me to think that throughout this band's career, every album we recorded has been released  on a different label.  I can finally say that we have found home.  Nuclear Blast has become a mecca for Bay Area thrash bands and we are happy to join our friends and partners in crime Exodus, Death Angel, Testament and Forbidden.  Now it's time to get to work on the new album!"

Review - Prong CARVED INTO STONE

CARVED INTO STONE

Tommy Victor once told me that Prong was “the cockroach of Rock N’ Roll”. As he put it, there wasn’t really anything that could truly cause Prong to go away. Not poor sales. Not changes in the industry. Not even changes in the band itself. He has proven that statement right for years now. While Prong is more of a part time thing for Victor at this point with other obligations to everyone from Glenn Danzig to Ministry, it’s still always a good thing when Prong reconvenes for a new album.

Slated for North American release on May 22, 2012 through Metal Blade Records, the 12-track recording was produced by Mark Lewis (Deicide, Devildriver) and mixed by Jason Suecof (Whitechapel, Job For A Cowboy), at Audio Hammer Studios in Sanford, Florida.
